Meet Our Team
Dr. Kurt Rauschenbach, the founder and manager of the Rauschenbach Patent Law Group, is an accomplished patent attorney with over 30 years helping innovators develop their domestic and international patent portfolios and IP strategies.

In addition to a law degree from NYU, Kurt holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics. His technical background spans quantum technologies, semiconductors, lasers and optics, microfabrication, semiconductor processing, advanced computing technologies, complex mechanical technologies, and many other highly technical fields.

Before establishing his firm, Dr. Rauschenbach practiced law at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault and served as a technology specialist at Fish & Neave and Allegretti & Witcoff.  Earlier in his career, he researched quantum optical and electronic devices at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Cornell University, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Hughes Aircraft Research Laboratories, and Harris Corporation.

Dr. Rauschenbach is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and is a registered patent practitioner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is the author of more than thirty technical publications and the inventor on a number of U.S. patents.

Kristin Rauschenbach
PhD
 Dr. Kristin Rauschenbach is a scientist and entrepreneur with a background in photonics, networking, and quantum systems. Early in her career, Kristin pioneered high-speed optical communications technology for 100 Gb/s operation. She formed the Optical Networking Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, became Associate Division Head of the Optical Communications Division, and was the first woman with a technical background to the Steering Committee.  

Dr. Rauschenbach was also co-founder and CEO of Photon Ex Corporation, which produced the world's first 40 Gb/s optical network product.  She then served as a Vice President at Raytheon BBN Technologies, where she built the Quantum Information Processing Group from inception to an internationally-recognized research organization. She holds more than 25 patents and has published over 150 technical papers.

 Kyllan is an experienced litigator who advises on litigation and compliance matters, helping clients assess risks and opportunities and develop defensive and enforceable IP and business strategies.

Kyllan joined us after eight years at Winston & Strawn LLP in Washington DC litigating high-profile matters for clients including Fortune 500 companies, high networth individuals and public figures, and government officials and entities. Kyllan has litigated in federal and state courts around the country, and his experience spans everything from patent, antitrust, and complex commercial litigation to government contracts and investigations, anticorruption and regulatory compliance, and white collar defense.

Recognized in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America, Kyllan has published articles on timely issues like the impacts of AI on litigation, evidentiary developments, and anticorruption issues. Kyllan also maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in immigration, civil rights, and other matters.
